Adventures From West to EastHow many middle school kids can say they went to Disney World and spoke at a conference? Cameron can! It's one of many really cool experiences Cameron can brag about from 2014.
The year started out with two very cool things: A trip to Disney World while mom ran in a half marathon (and the kids got to run a Mickey Mile) AND the family welcomed a new puppy. Cameron is a happy older brother to Bailey the Goldendoodle. Cameron followed up those two big developments with many weekends of rehearsal in the role as Willy Wonka in a small production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Cam's Spring Break also included an extra visit to Disney World where he got to present how to shoot video with mobile devices to other kids. He shared some of his tips on a blog he may or may not keep using, Blogger In Training. After wrapping up sixth grade, Cameron had a really awesome opportunity with our school district's science program... |
He got to spend a week at the Grand Teton Science Center learning about the animals and topography. Cameron says his favorite part of that trip was going to Yellowstone and seeing Old Faithful. The same week Cam rode a bus back from the Grand Tetons, we drove all the way to Maine. That's a lot of time on the road. Cam says the travel has made him a more patient traveler. I think he's right about that. During his trip to Maine, Cam says his favorite part was kayaking and exploring the island with our dog, Bailey.
Amazingly, that wasn't the end of his summer fun. Cameron joined Jen and Jordan to travel to California. He and his sister had never visited the west coast before, so this was a big deal. Cam says his favorite parts of visiting the state included checking out the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, spending two days in the San Jose Tech Museum, and his big day having fun on the Santa Cruz Boardwalk
In seventh grade, Cameron is in his school's chess club and he is competing in Science Olympiad for the first time. He's planning out another trip out west. Instead of spending time at the Grand Teton Science School, he's going to spend a full week in Yellowstone. If he isn't talking about science or Minecraft, you can easily jump into a conversation if you have interest in Marvel comic history or Star Wars. Cam continues to play piano and is in his second year of Middle School band playing the trumpet. In the last year, Cam has grown almost 4 inches and gained 20 pounds. He's rapidly moving into teenage zone and officially turns 13 next April Fool's Day.
There are a number of ways you can reach Cam. You can enjoy a little peek into his sarcasm on Instagram and he'll have access to his Twitter and Facebook on his birthday. You can also email him. (Click on the photos below to learn details.)
