Work Travel, Family Travel & MoreWhen Jen kicked off the year at the Cotton Bowl with Randy, she never expected to end it with the ability to tell so many awesome stories of work-related adventures and family fun.
After the Cotton Bowl new year, Jen ran in the Disney World Half Marathon. It wasn't her fastest, but it may have been one of her most fun runs. It was extra exciting to end the race with the family and a full day of fun in the Magic Kingdom. Jen also ran in the Go Girl! half marathon in May and enjoyed a handful of 5K runs with Jordan and Cameron. |
The year was focused on extending Jen's social communications trainings for AARP and one of its newer programs that helps older, low-tech Americans get hands-on technology skills. Jen traveled and spoke in a lot of cities including Washington, DC, Boston, Austin, TX, Chicago, Orlando, FL, St. Petersburg, FL, San Jose, CA, San Diego, CA, Stony Brook, NY, New York City and Nashville, TN. One of her biggest highlights included helping with two different events called "Selfies with George" where people had a chance to take selfies with George Takei. Jen can say she had a chance to teach George and his husband, Brad, how to take better selfie photos with a cellphone. Another pride point: Jen got to speak in a TEDx event and share a story that connects with her work at AARP.
Jen enjoyed her time in Maine with the family this summer. She also had a chance to take Jordan to Camp No Limits and Nubability camp. She had a speaking opportunity in San Jose and sandwiched that trip with adventures with the kids to San Francisco (thanks to Life360) and the California Central Coast. She showed the kids her old stomping grounds in Santa Crus and Monterey.
When Jen wasn't traveling, she worked from home and has spent tremendous amounts of time with the new family puppy, Bailey. Little Bailey isn't very little any more but he is a special dog for Jen. He keeps her active during the day and listens to her when she needs to talk to someone about her workday. (Digital conversations for work can only go so far!) It was such a thrill to bring Bailey to Maine with us this summer.
One of the greatest gift in Jen's world was bringing in a part-time nanny at the start of the school year to help with the kids while Jen worked. Her travel can make it a little stressful figuring out how to get the kids to all of their activities She's incredibly thankful for Amy and our once-a-week helper, Brent, for making a really positive impact on our kids' lives while Jen and Randy worked.
